Eve N. Howard is a proven, senior leader and recognized expert with more than 30 years of experience in corporate governance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions, diversity and inclusion, risk management, and disclosure. In addition to serving as a trusted advisor to public company boards and executive management teams, Eve has considerable nonprofit board leadership experience. Eve is also currently on the board of Cogent Communications Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: CCOI), where she serves on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
Eve is the Global Head of the Capital Markets practice at Hogan Lovells LLP, one of the world’s largest law firms. Eve also serves on the global Corporate and Finance Leadership Team, a group that represents 45% of the firm’s total revenues. Prior to leading the Capital Markets practice, Eve served as Regional Managing Partner on her firm’s 13- member International Management Committee, which Committee has responsibility for the strategic direction, management and financial results of the firm as a whole. As Regional Managing Partner, Eve was responsible for managing Americas offices (including the flagship DC office with the majority of the lawyers and business services personnel in the Americas), representing more than 30% of firm revenues. As Regional Managing Partner, Eve oversaw growth in profits for her region of more than 20% during that period. In her various senior leadership roles, Eve has worked closely with teams throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia in order to help expand the business, profit and revenues of the global firm and to set policies, manage risk and streamline operations.
Eve is a recognized expert in the fields of corporate governance and debt capital markets. Eve routinely provides advice to senior management teams and boards on corporate governance matters and SEC disclosure, and is a trusted advisor to executive management and boards of directors in structuring and negotiating sophisticated financing and strategic transactions. She represents both issuers and leading investment banking firms in the issuance of investment grade, high yield, and convertible notes offerings, including ESG financings, across a wide spectrum of industries in both public offerings and private placement transactions. Her industry experience is broad and includes emphasis in the areas of health care, real estate (and REITs), technology, media, aerospace and defense, diversified industrials, life sciences, hospitality, and retail. For her work in the capital markets industry in 2020, Eve was one of six lawyers recognized nationally for the prestigious Law360 MVP award.
In addition to her public company board position, Eve was recently elected to two nonprofit boards: DirectWomen and Reading Partners DC. She also served as Chair of the Board of Lowell School, an independent K-8 school in Washington D.C., where she also served as trustee for seven years.
Eve has in-depth expertise on issues impacting diversity in the workplace. As a member of her firm’s Americas Diversity Committee, Eve has led firm-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives, including a sponsorship program and the creation of innovative agile working policies. Eve has been recognized by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance for her diversity and inclusion work and serves on their Advisory Board.
Eve is a graduate of Duke Law School, where she currently serves on the Board of Visitors, and Dartmouth College, and a member of the DirectWomen Board Institute Class of 2020-2021.
